My Social Media Presence

My Social Media Presence

Nowadays, it’s common for people to participate on one social media platform as a minimum. There are numerous reasons for wanting to become a part of one or multiple social media sites, such as the desire to keep in touch with friends or for following the latest news of your favourite celebrity.
I for one think social media is a good thing. There are issues, one of the biggest issue presently being cyber bullying. People reveal new personalities online because you can imitate anyone and construct new personalities. It is effortless to do and generally nobody thinks about the consequences of posting a mean comment. To you that mean comment might be not that immoral but someone else may find it hurtful. Different words have different effects.
Over recent years my social media presence has grown. I started off with MSN after being informed by one of my friends that you must have it. That eventually lost popularity and sites like Facebook took over. Now my online presence spans over Facebook, Skype, Snapchat, Instagram, WhatsApp, Pinterest, Tumblr and more.
The major reason for joining most of these sites was either to stay in touch with friends (Facebook) or to use for school (Pinterest). Pinterest eventually lost its school purpose and became a site for me to collect posters and pictures on my favourite television shows, movies, books, etcetera.
I do believe it’s important to have a good social media presence because the world revolves too much around them now to not be a part of them. In fact, if everyone was respectful on the Internet, then there really wouldn’t be any hugely terrible reasoning for people to be a part of these sites. They’re straightforward to use and they are wonderful for spreading positive messages or news to anyone around the globe. Having a social media presence is important if you want to be a part of the growing world of media because it is central to everything.
